Ten on Tuesday....10 Least Liked Foods
As much as I like food you would think that this category would be hard for me.... but it wasn't! I'm the kind of girl who doesn't do moderation. I either love it or hate it and not much in between. So, here's my countdown on least liked foods. (I'm sure there are lots of exotic foods that I've not tried and would probably dislike so I'm sure my list will change.)
10. Beets....not my favorite unless they make them into sugar. I don't like beets and like them even less when they are pickled.
9. Hard Boiled Eggs...I blame my mother for this one. She used to boil eggs and we would dye them for Easter. That was fun! Eating them wasn't. I will eat hard-boiled eggs in tuna or chicken salad but never alone. I also do not like egg salad or deviled eggs.
8. Turnips...I turn up my nose at turnips. My MIL used to boil turnips and potatoes together. What a surprise... you'd think you are eating a potato, and you bite into a tangy turnip! No thanks, I'll pass.
7. Brussel Sprouts....No offense to Belgium but I'd rather eat their chocolate or their waffles instead of their sprouts. I'm sure they are an acquired taste but not one that this girl has refined.
6. Lima Beans....totally not a fan. Don't like the taste or the texture!
5. Sushi...Never cared for raw fish of any kind.
4. Rye Bread....so not a fan! I love whole grains but not rye!
3. Octopus or squid.... too rubbery and slimy for my taste. I grew up in Texas so never had many fish.
2. Boiled Okra....again it's the slime factor. I don't like to put anything in my mouth that doesn't need to be chewed. Boiled okra just slides down your goozle. Roll it in cornbread and fry it up and I'm so there!
1. Liver and Onions....my number one choice for most disliked! The liver seems to be the one meat that gets bigger in my mouth the more I chew! Mr. Wonderful adores it so I'm always encouraging him to order it when we eat out because I won't fix it.

Ten on Tuesday..10 favorite pieces of clothing

1. My favorite piece of clothing is my black leather jacket (inherited from my friend Flip Flop Floozie) it's my last winter to wear it as it will be too big next winter. It is the nicest coat I have ever owned and even more special because of my friendship with Floozie.
2. I love my hat. I've always loved hats and I love this one the most.
3. I love my ratty bathrobe. I tried to give it away this winter (even packed it in a box and
donated it to the mission) but I missed it and went back for it. It's way too big so it's like wearing a blanket which is very comforting when the house is cold in the early morning.4. My jean jacket. I wear it all the time (through out the year). It's the perfect weight for indoor wear too and I tend to stay cold in the winter. I wear layers in the winter so I wear the jean jacket under my coat.
5. My gray sweat shirt. It's way too big now but it is so soft and comfy. It
definitely is what I wear when I'm relaxing at home.6. My purple jacket.....I bought it for my birthday. It is the only piece of clothing I've bought in the last three years. I think it looks really good on me too!
7. My slippers. We have soft wood floors and tile floors so the floors are always cold or a potential for getting splinters . I wear slippers in the house especially in the winter. My slippers are especially comfy. Yes, I prefer comfort over style.
8. My canvas purse (bag). It's just the right size for all my stuff and easy to carry with a shoulder
strap. It goes with all my casual clothes and I'm really very casual.9. My Magenta sweatshirt and pink striped long sleeved shirt. I love the color (it looks good on me) and it's warm and comfortable. (Also a bit fashionable!)
10. My favorite pair of jeans. Before I lost weight I couldn't wear jeans. Now that I can I found a pair of jeans that look really good on me and feel good.

Ten on Tuesday...!0 Memorable Momments in 2008

9. A mini family reunion with Mr. Wonderful's family in Richmond, Virginia. His sister Anne was visiting from Kansas and we met up with his two brothers James, and Jay in Richmond. Mr. Wonderful is the baby of the family.
8. A mini family reunion with my family in Alabama in October. We were able to travel to my sister's home and enjoy a long weekend with her family. My mom and other sister from Chicago came with us.

7. The Summer Visit of our Canadians. Three weeks of travel, family, Emma, Strawberries, the Bronx Zoo, wading pools, bubbles, and a backyard swing. Followed by a sad parting and the long ache until the next visit.

6. My Birthday this past November and my "surprise" visitors....Melli and Mother-in-law that just popped in from Maryland. My day went from not so special, to so much fun hated to see it end kind of day. Thank you Melli, and Louise for making my day special and thanks to my neighbor and good friend Beckie for adding to the fun.

5. Our 35th Wedding Anniversary that we spent in Philadelphia. We stayed downtown in the historical district and did all the tourist things. This picture is a fountain with a statue that says "Love" . I like to call this picture "us in love". We rarely take off and go on vacation just to see a new area so it was fun and a great get-away that I will always remember.

4. Our Christmas Gathering in New York. This is a picture of Emma and me making cut out cookies. She liked eating the dough but she got the concept really quickly. I bought her a small rolling pin and small Christmas cutters. She especially liked eating the icing. I love having the family together on holidays. We feel really blessed to have had everyone in New York except Jerry who was working in Canada.
3. My lap band surgery in February. It has allowed me to lose 60 pounds so far and counting. It has given me more energy to chase after my grands and taken a lot of pain and loss of mobility off my knee. It was such a life changing gift.
2. The Divine Miss "Em's" first birthday. In a year full of firsts it was a thrill to celebrate her first birthday even if we were in Virginia. What a blessing to have had her in our life for an entire year. Her second birthday is coming up soon. We have been blessed to see the first of our children's children.

1. The birth of our first grand son Oscar (also known by his Diva as the great and mighty Oz). I am currently staying a whole month with him so I may be some what biased . We had many blessings in 2008. We are so blessed with friends and family. Thank you to all of you who have added value to our life just by your presence.

Ten on Tuesday....10 ways to Save Money
1. Get your books from the library. I love books and read every day. While I buy some of the books I read, most come from the library. Simply put, it’s hard to beat free.
2. Get healthy. Your health will directly impact the cost of life insurance and, in some cases, can reduce the cost of your health insurance.
3. Make a budget and stick to it. Make sure you include all the major categories. Don't put too many items in the Miscellaneous category.
4. Don’t go to the grocery store more than once a week. You always spend more than you need there. When you do go, make a list and *stick to it*. True, this is not always painless. But the extra money in your account is worth it.
5. Visit the thrift shops frequently. (Goodwill, hospital auxiliary, etc.). It’s amazing the wide variety of good useful items, many of them near new or brand new, for just a couple dollars
6. Replace incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent light (CFLs) bulbs. These bulbs use 75% less energy and last 10 times longer. They do take some getting used to, and they won’t work in every light fixture. But use them where it makes sense and save energy and money.
7. Agree to limit gift giving. At Christmas our extended family go overboard when it comes to gift giving. Agree in advance to limit the gifts and save everybody some money.
8. Only wash with cold water. The detergent does the cleaning, not the temperature of the water. If you have heavily soiled items, just soak them in detergent BEFORE washing.
9. Shop at home before you go: Before you write your grocery list, dive into the freezer, pantry or wherever you hide the things you bring home from the grocery or drugstore. It’s surprising how many of us duplicate purchases without realizing it, and there is some satisfaction to be had from actually using up those frozen or canned goods befor buying more.
10. Eat fewer meals out. Brown bag your lunch and plan menus for your evening meal. I cook on the weekends and freeze food in individual portions.

Ten on Tuesday...What you like to talk about

1. I love to talk about the Lord. I love to talk about His goodness to us and His mercy. I love to praise Him and and share stories of His greatness. I love this shirt....it makes me giggle.

2. I like to talk to missionaries about the work they are doing in various countries. Working at a mission we get to see missionaries and hear wonderful stories about what God is doing in the world.

3. I like to talk about Mr. Wonderful, my best friend, playmate, champion, defender, and love of my life.

4. My family.....our kids, Becky, Suzy and Andy! They keep us young and never let us get away with anything. I love talking to them in person or on the phone since they live so far away from us.

5. My Emma. She doesn't talk much yet but I love nothing better than talking about her. She is our first grandchild and talking about her can turn me into a big ole ball of goo.

6. My Oscar.....He is just learning to coo and is staying awake a little longer now. He is our first grandson and quite the charmer. Needless to say it was love at first sight for both my grands.

7. Food....especially food that is not good for you. I like to watch cooking shows like Top Chef and love to talk about the food network shows or recipes.
8. Friends.....I love my friends and love being with them. My blogger friends are the best. These are my "Blogger Babes" in Savannah.

9. My Home (The Nest) or (The Daisy Patch).
I'm a home body....I love nothing more than just being in my own home with all the things and people I love.
10. My cats....Lucy and JJ. They always think the best of me and are always affectionate. Love me, love my cats.
I love to talk....about anything and everything but these are my top ten. What are yours?
