Things that make me Excited

What makes me excited?

1.  Anticipation:  Looking forward to something that is coming up.

2. Daydreaming: hoping about something that I want to happen.

3.  Fireworks...I love to watch the night sky light up with all the pretty displays.

4. Praise Music:  Brightens my day, my mood, and lifts my spirit.

5.  My Kids and Grandkids:  Happy Days!

6.  Cake....will make me do a happy dance every time!

7.  My Cats....they think I'm wonderful so I try not to disappoint them.

8. Volunteers: ....people who share my passion and vision and show up to work hard and get a project done.

9.  A completed project:  I love checking off an item on my "to-do list."

10.  An adventure:  a day trip, visit the library, a visit from a friend, a trip to Dairy Queen for a small blizzard, visit a greenhouse, a bouquet of flowers from the grocery store, or a movie date.

11.  Nature:  I love a great sunset, fields of flowers, mountains, the beach, sitting on a porch swing sipping sweet ice tea, and watching the world go by.

12. Home:  Dorothy had it right all along....there's no place like home especially if Mr. Wonderful is there beside me.

Hope you weren't expecting something lofty and inspiring.

This past weekend Mr. Wonderful and I went to Virginia Beach to see my mom. Summer is always a busy time at the mission so having a weekend off is unusual. The weather was hot and humid and perfect for going to the beach. We left at noon on Friday and got back home Sunday afternoon. It was good to see Mom and of course she made several of my all time favorites. No one makes applesauce like my Mom and I rarely share it. She naturally sends it home with me so I can continue to enjoy it. Here are some of the sights we saw at the beach! If you ever want to feel small....have your picture taken with King Neptune!

Suggestion: Sun glasses and sun screen!

It was a great get-away. Thanks mom, for opening your home to us and always being there for us. You are the best!

Sunday Seven....Back in the Daisy Patch

Sunday Seven....Back in the Daisy Patch

1. I'm back home! Praise the Lord ( and my little sis) for the opportunity to spend a week with Oscar and his mom.

 Yesterday my day started at 3:45 A.M. and I found that Laguaria Airport is not difficult at 4 in the morning. Tim helped me with the electronic boarding passes and security isn't very busy early in the morning. What I thought would be my biggest hassle turned out to be really easy.

2. Most of my day was spent at Dulles Airport in D.C. There is only one flight a day that goes into our airport(Shenandoah) and after a two hour delay it was canceled. My sister (watching over me from Ohare's computer) got me on another flight to Charlottesville which left at 12:45. I arrived safely but my bag is still on vacation.

3. Mr. Wonderful met me at the airport and after reporting my "run-away-bag" took me to Chick-fil-a for a late lunch of chicken nuggets and a shared brownie with ice cream. That made me do a "happy dance" but he also surprised me with several home projects that he completed that I had almost given up on. I should go away more often! Yeah Mr. Wonderful!!

 4. It's good to be home with my cats, my bed, and my man! I got to sleep all night long! What a treat! I forgot what it is like when you have a new baby. I took the early morning shift so Suzy could catch a few winks. 

5. I have lots of pictures of Emma that Becky posted. Isn't she a doll? She looks so adorable. Becky says she kept the wig and hat on the entire time. Becky also had a small Raggedy Anne that Emma carried with her. Emma loved the attention and the chocolate (can you tell we are related?) I'm working on a scrapbook for My Little Raggedy Girl! 

6. Speaking of my Canadian Girls.....Becky and Emma will be flying to New York for Christmas. Jerry can't get away but we are so thrilled to be able to get both grands together. You know there will be lots of fun, food and photos. This is the last time Emma can fly without having to purchase a seat for her. Her second birthday is in January.

7. I got to be a part of some of Oscar's firsts. I got to be his first babysitter so his parents could celebrate their first date as mommy and daddy. I had a wonderful, fun-filled time that ended all too quickly. I'm looking forward to having both grands to love on and spoil rotten over Christmas. I love being a Diva to Emma and Oscar. Hope your week went well. I think I may have found my missing spirit of adventure . I still don't like to travel by myself but I don't think it will be my last outing. Dim the lights, cue the music, and exit thankfully for another busy and memorable week.

We're Back.....

Another long day at many airports plus a 2 hour drive home but we are finally back in the daisy patch. We are both really pooped posies so we are headed to bed. The animals were really glad to see us and haven't left our side since arriving home.

The flower bed is calling.....it's good to be home!

Home Again!

We're Back! The National Missionary Conference in Indianapolis was great! The suitcase with the many hats was very appropriate as missionaries definitely wear many hats on a daily basis.

What a thrill to meet and greet many old friends and meet new ones. The banner next to Mr. Wonderful was designed by our daughter and son-in-law It was very effective and we want to give them a big "shout out" for making it. It is proudly on display now at the mission.

We were able to make contact with many missionaries that will benefit from the materials, equipment and information we provide. We also had the privilege of counseling and praying with some very dedicated college kids as they search for avenues of Christian service.

I laughed at Mr. Wonderful as he worked the room. He shook hands, passed out literature and kissed babies. He could have easily been mistaken for a politician. There were over a thousand exhibits and over 8,000 in attendance. Needless to say it was good to get back "to the Daisy Patch". This country girl enjoyed her visit but truly "There's no place like home!"

This is my absolutely favorite picture of our little country cottage. The snow almost makes it look "magical".

I love snowmen!

How's this for combining two of my passions.....ice cream and snowmen? I'm home sick so while I recover (with peppermint ice cream) I thought I would reprint a previous post...

I love Christmas time, the decorations, tree, Christmas music, special programs and yes, even the fluffy white stuff that's cold and you can make people out of it! I have a passion for SNOWMEN!

My husband says I have a "thing for fat, white men" and he is quite happy about it as he says he fits into that category.

I started collecting snowmen while we lived in Savannah, Georgia. I guess I became attracted to snowpeople because of the lack of snow in Savannah. It's really hard to get excited about Christmas while you are doing your shopping in Bermuda shorts.

One of my first snowmen was actually a water globe with a top hat, carrot, plastic coal and sticks floating in water....it was called "A Florida Snowman".

I had one or two snowmen and the next thing I knew....I was a collector. ( Does Three equal a collection?) It seems that friends and family are always excited about people who collect items as they feel they can always pick up a (You fill in the blank) for Mom, Aunt Suzy or that eccentric friend (which is the category I seem to most often fall).

The next thing I knew I was inundated with the fat white cold guys. They took over the mantel on the fireplace and spilled over into the window sills, side tables, porch and even the bathroom. I have cowboy snowmen, wooden snowmen, china snowmen, plastic snowmen, and snowmen wearing fur coats. I even have snowmen I don't even like ( but please don't tell my friends).

I also have a Christmas Tree with nothing but snowmen ornaments and little plastic snowmen to cover the lights. I even have a snow angel for the top of the tree! I have a snow lady "raggedy ann" doll with a snow doll.

Ok, I admit it, I'm a snowman addict! However, my passion for snowmen has really subsided with the lack of space in my little country cottage.Now I can look out the window and see snow.

I can create my own snowman, snow lady or snow family. I can wear boots and tromp on it, sled on it, roll in it, sweep it, shovel it and be overwhelmed by the beauty and whiteness of it. I can sing "White Christmas" and really mean it!

I love nothing better than looking out the windows from my home office and watching the birds eating from the feeder and the smoke coming from the Hardy. (We heat with wood.)

HOME is one of the nicest four letter words I know!
