Something I've been doing lately

This is so neat. I had never heard this before. This is beautiful - and it is surely worth making the 5 finger prayer a part of our lives.

1. Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a 'sweet duty.'

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayer! s day an d night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger - the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, 'The least shall be the greatest among you.' Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

This is beautiful! I love the fourth finger prayer!
I sure do appreciate your prayers while I have been going through this mess with my arteries and getting them fixed! I am feeling better.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful post! Hugs Grams

I know you told me about this FIRST - a long time ago. But I was surprised when Pastor Paul used it in one of his sermons awhile back too! It is a GREAT way to remember to cover everyone!

Beautiful post. Thank you.
I pray with my hands too -- and "talk".
Really.
I am an artist and I paint with the original texts from the Bible (Hebrew Torah font letters) for every single stroke.

I am founding a new theory of art, UnGraven Image as the letters form into imaages much the way a traditional painting would.

It relates to elementary physics' string and m M theory, but also the theology is basic to all denominations and branches of Christians an Jews.

Painting this way has actually changed how I visually see the world as my brain has learned to decode the light impressions sent by my eyes to include more of the energy that they see.

That energy is for many, The Words of The Creator. Those Words (actually the letters), spoken in Genesis 1 are the basis for the physical universe, and amazingly Torah font letters almost perfectly represent the strings of elementary physics!

It seems 90% of vision happens in the brain. So I wrote a new book about that too, The Art of Seeing The Divine, as my mission is to change the way we see the world. The book can be downloaded for free from www.artofseeingthedivine.com The e book is full of Visual Exercise/Experiences so visual memories can be created for use decoding. Most involve art, but the first is about a person's own hand, so I especially relate to this post.

See more. Share the vision.

Thanks so much and thanks for the post and site,
