Cat Nap

Cat Nap

Yesterday we took the "kids" Lucy Cat and JJ to the vet for their 3 year rabies shot and yearly check-up. My free kittens turned out to be quite expensive what with spayed and neutering, declawing, shots, flea medicine and indoor cat food.

Yes, they are costly pets but they do brighten our day.

JJ is a cuddler and loves nothing more than snuggling up in your lap or resting on your chest just as close to your face as he can get. It's kind of nice in the winter when you're cold...not so nice in the summer when you are already hot . He doesn't seem to know a stranger and is very playful and beguiling. Even if you are not a cat lover you would be hard pressed not to like this cat as he tries so hard to please. JJ is short for Joey Junior. Our first orange marmalade cat was named G.I. Joe....or Joey for short, by our son who was 3 at the time of the cat's birth. He was so attached to the kitten he would hide it whenever anyone came to take a kitten.

Lucy Cat is his sister.....liter mates. They've been together all their lives (about 2 years now). I picked her out as she was the only grey tabby in the liter. I thought she would be my cat....little did I know that she would think that Charlie is the best thing since cat nip! She adores him and loves giving him cat kisses. The only thing she loves about me is my desk. She enjoys watching the birds at the bird bath and feeder. She occasionally likes to lay down on the key board while I'm trying to write or stick her nose in my tea or her tail in my cold drink!

We've discovered many people have allergies to cats or just don't like them. I think we knew that when we got this pair. So I think we made a deliberate choice......pets over people! The people in our live seem to come and go frequently but these two are always home to welcome us and greet us. They are mostly always up for a game of "catch the laser light beam" or ready to explore the attic or basement whenever they see you go. Sometimes we have a ring side seat to the World Wide Federation of Wrestling right in our living room as they tear after each other and collide mid-air. Other times like the picture above, they groom each other or just curl up together and sleep.

Speaking of sleeping.....think I'll go catch a "Cat Nap" too on this lazy Sunday afternoon!
