It's a brand new month.....August! Also known as the "Dog Days of August" however around here it is the Cat Days of August! I'm not sure who Spot will miss most when Suzy, Tim, and Andy move to New York. She adores Juno and Suzy! I've decided that four cats is most probably too many for one small household! They have been very entertaining however! The four cats seem to be ok together it's just the added factor of Spot being too friendly that adds to the excitment.
Suzy and Tim have gone to help move Andy from Atlanta. The house is quiet which is nice but a somewhat lonely also. It's nice to download from the week and watch the birds from my "perch" here at my new desk.
I also have a new favorite place. My SECRET GARDEN.....behind the garage. ( It cannot be seen from the street) Suzy and Tim made a raised garden bed and put in a molded stone barrier that is gorgeous! They planted climbing fragrant jasmine, lavender, tri-colored zenias, purple sylvia, hostas, and marigolds. They also moved the picnic table between the garden bed and our grape arbor. It's a perfect place to have devotions or reflection at the end of the day!
My frustration level is at an all time high! I'm sure a lot of it has to do with my floppy hormones! I enjoy working with our volunteers but like to be prepared for their visit. Yesterday I was expecting about 6 ladies to box clothing and got them, plus a 12 member boy scout troop that thought they would be loading a container! Charlie quickly found work for them as the work is never ending.....but it would have been nice to know they were coming!
Friday we received 7,600 pounds of clothing from a single donor. I'm used to getting anywhere from 3 to 5 thousand pounds at a single time but this is an all time high for us! I'm pretty sure we will be getting some volunteers from the source that collected all this clothing. It is a school and it sounded like we will be coordinating our schedule to have her students come sort and box clothing.
Well, I'm looking at a pile of laundry and prayer letters to get out.....Charles Stanley in his sermon this morning mentioned the golden rule...."Do unto others as you would have them do to you" in reguard to "sowing" and "reaping". I don't think I've ever thought about it together in that way. You reap what you sow.....but you sow more than you sowed and later than when you sowed! Hmm......that makes sense!
