Sometimes ignornace is bliss

I've recently taken on a new role at the mission. I read all the emails, prayer letters and prayer request that come in. I had no idea how many that would be when I volunteered (would you believe over 1500?)

The bad news is that some of these emails go back to April and sometimes we get six to ten requests a week not to mention monthly letters from missionaries that we have helped in the past.

Daisy Dilemma : How can I just delete a prayer letter without reading it?

The answer is .....I can't . So I spend 6 to 8 hours a day reading prayer letters and doing a lot of crying. I forward them on to people I think may be able to help with certain request and I make notes to my self to bring up certain situation for prayer in our staff meetings each day. I think to myself, if my heart is breaking how much more does this grieve God?

The person who sent the letter is expecting people to pray. Can I do less? We send out prayer letters every month and I expect those who get them are praying for us. I would hate to think that they think and pray for us as little as I have prayed for many of these missionaries. God forgive me for thinking that our global prayer responsibility ends with sending a container on its way to the missionaries we serve.

On a brighter note: This tremendous group of volunteers from Tomoka Christian Church of Ormond Beach, Florida blessed the socks off us in a recent 2 and half day visit. In their short time here they were able to pack, box and sort over 3 tons of clothing, paint our hallway, recycle assorted metal, sort hundreds of medical scissors and instruments as well as run new outlets in the gym floor so we can plug in space heaters this winter.

I just heard from the group leader and they have signed up for two trips lasting 6 days for 2009!

God is so good! Hope your holiday weekend goes well. We are headed over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house we go. Hope to catch up with most on you late Monday evening. Gotcha all prayed up......believe me, I've had plenty of practice.

I would NO WAY be able to delete a prayer request either. Not a chance! And even if it's only a momentary "God bless these people and their situation" - at least SOMEONE has gone to bat for them! But I would think that once you get the backlog taken care of, it will be a lot easier to keep up with the new incoming ones. If you want to forward some to me, I will be happy to help! (I don't mean a few HUNDRED... I mean like 25 a week! Something like that! Until you're caught up!) LOL!

Have fun at Mom's! You're prayed up too!

I think you need us to pray for you to be able to tackle all those emails. This reminds ...How do you eat a bear?....One bite at a time. Hang in there, you'll get it all done.

How a wonderful holiday with your Mom!!!

Is there any way you could get some folks to help you with that email/prayer load? I couldn't delete one, either and would worry myself silly until I had found something for them. I'm praying for some help for you. Maybe post something at the mission. Hopefully there are some good smart souls who will pitch in.

Daisy,
I don't know why I never thought of it - but I didn't! Our youth group might be able to come and help your mission some time. Can you send me dates and times that might work for you and I'll see if they can do it?
