I'm not sure where my week went. I got caught up in a stack of books and the next thing I know the week is almost over.
I've had some really exciting adventure without ever leaving the porch. Can't say much else got done in my home though. Here's a recap....
Plum Lucky by Janet Evonovich....A Stephanie Plum between the numbers book. A quick read full of fun , exploding cars, and impossible situations.
Hush My Mouth by Cathy Pickens...The latest Southern Fried Mystery (see HOG WILD, DONE GONE WRONG, and SOUTHERN FRIED) is a wonderful regional cozy that fans of the series will appreciate.
Bobbie Faye's (kinda, sorta, not exactly) Family Jewels by Toni MacGee Causey...If you like Janet Evonovich, come from the south, have wacky eccentric relatives, or just need a giggle knowing that someone is else is having a worse day than you , then this is your book.
Wit's End by Karen Joy Fowler...good character development, interesting oddballs and a plot that twists and turns. I liked it but more for the writing than the story line.
Comfort Food by Kate Jacobs....The title was good, the first line of the book had me. "Gus Simpson adored Cake." What follows is a story of an aging food network star that is trying to keep her show and ratings up by the addition of her friends and family and a certain ex beauty queen who is trying to be the new "Gus Simpson." Good Story and some great cooking tips along the way.
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. This is the first book Jane Austen published in 1811 and is a classic. It was slow going for me as the language is very formal and social graces are very different now. I liked the contrast in the two sisters and the way each reacted to the social dramas around them. I am planning on renting the movie now that I've read the book.
I should tell you that I am not a rapid reader so this was really an Olympic feat for me.
I'm into cooking today.....anyone got a good zucchini recipe?

So you have been a book worm then??? I love doing that but I always feel like I am not doing anything when I read and then well the guilt trip comes down on me.
I really hurt my left eye!! I think that when I was painting with KILZ Tuesday that since I had Major troubles getting it off my hands..that i probably rubbed my eye. Anyway I have a VERY BAD infection now. Went to eye doctor yesterday and he gave me anti-biotic steroid drops that I am to use for 9 more days. I get up in the morning and wow do I look awful..swollen and big!! GREAT huh!!
Miss you ...sandy
Oh no! An entire list that doesn't intersect my own pile at all. You know what that means? It means I may have to add a few. I really have to get mine shrunk a bit first.
Hugs,
Susan
Summertime is FOR reading! BRAVO you! So why do I keep feeling guilty if I get into a good read? LOL! (really I don't -- feel guilty -- but I gotta make my readers THINK I do! Right?) hehehe...
I too have a hard time reading Austen - and for that reason have NOT read Sense and Sensibility! I have read Plum Lucky - but was not AS impressed with her tweener as I am with the full fledged numbers! I'm gonna have to check out those Southern Fried Mysteries! They sound YUMMY! I'll check out the Family Jewels too! :)
I'm away for the next two days! Wish you were gonna be with me! Oh myyyyyy! We will have to plan THAT one of these years! You and Me at Women of Faith! OH YEA!!!
Love ya!
At least you have time to read! *sigh*
Oh yeah...I found some new authors to try. I love that.
We are leaving on July 16 for Venezuela and will be gone for a month (but I will have my computer) and I may have to add these books to my group I am taking!
Hey, I just sawe Sense and sensibility on DVD. Loved it.
