Physical Torture?

Yesterday afternoon I had my first physical therapy session. It went better than I suspected in some areas and more like physical torture in others. So to all of you out there having had knee replacements or double knee replacements I have a new found respect for you and your pain tolerance.

I'm a wimp and proud of it! If it even looks like it will hurt, I automatically tense up so that it does! My new motto is, " Ice is your friend!"

The first session was an hour and a half and I thought I might have to crawl out to the car afterwards. Needless to say, it can only get better from here right? ( Please, please, please say right...lie to me if you have to!)

I have exercises to do three times a day to get back the extension and flexibility in that knee. Right now, I walk like a bridesmaid in a wedding. (Take one step, drag the other) Hey, it ain't pretty but at least it gets me where I want to go!

Thanks for your prayers and encouragement. I appreciate them more than you know!

I take pain medicine before my workout there. The ice does feel great.I am on different machines with weights on them.I feel good when I am finished, getting my muscles stretched.I have been with PT 7 weeks now. You will get where I am sooner than me.....Take care. Baba

Keep up the good work, Daisy. You need to get back to where you can climb on statues and ride in shopping carts with Melli!

Well I was afraid of this. I think you and my dear hubby need to get together when it comes to pain because I think neither one of you like it much...I can tolerate it for a long long time and then I fold!! I knew this was going to be hard and bad. I have looked for your post on this and bloglines did not show it!! I am having a time with this thing!! You HAVE to do what they say...Mike did not completely follow through like he should have and that is one of the reasons that we are now heading now the road for knee replacements. So just remember to do everything and I mean EVERYTHING they tell you to do. Love and Miss you..Sandy

Oh, Yes!!! It sure does hurt! I had to learn to walk again and that was soooooo hard I thought I would die before I began to walk again! The lady helping me kept saying, "Carolyn, You can't walk if you don't lift one of your feet up"! I just couldn't lift up my one foot and step forward!! But I finally did! I didn't die and I can walk! Please do what they say! If it weren't for the pain in my baack all this wouldn't be so hard! Hey, I am a wimp, too! and if I made it I know you can, too!!!
You have that spunk that it takes to make it!!!!
