Thursday Thirteen..13 Commandments


Daisy's 13 Commandments for Weight Loss

  1. Thou shalt not skip breakfast.
  2. Thou shat eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
  3. Thou shalt always eat a carbohydrate with a protein.
  4. Thou shalt double your fiber.
  5. Thou shalt not eat "red meat"
  6. Thou shalt believe your mother was right: Eat your fruits and veggies!
  7. Thou shalt eat fresh foods, not processed.
  8. Thou shalt drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
  9. Thou shalt consume a minimum of sugar, salt, caffeine and alcohol.
  10. Thou shalt exercise every morning.
  11. Thou shalt remember that" food is fuel"and not a substitue for love.
  12. Thou shalt be aware of everything that goes in your mouth.
  13. Thou shalt monitor thy progress and applaud thy accomplishments.

I am trying to up my water consumption, I drink too much coffee. I am not really trying to lose weight though. Just be a little more aware of what I eat :)

Except for the "red meat" part, I think everyone should follow those general rules for better health.

Never thought that carbohydrates are a must for dieters. I always thought that carbohydrates is a no no to dieters.

The protein and carb one was a bit one for me...a friend passed on this tip to me last April and it totally changed the way I eat food...now I limit my carbs to no more than 30 g in a 2 hr period and I always balance that with at least 15 g of protein.

It sounds like you are doing great!! Way to go!

I'm doing pretty good with all of those except for the red meat and water. I love red meat but I have cut way back on it. I have a terrible time getting all of my water down!

I always have trouble with avoiding red meat. I usually do okay for a couple of weeks, but then I break down and just have to have a cheeseburger.

I had no idea about the carb + protein deal. I'll have to remember that. And the exercise every morning. And minimising sugar. And... maybe I should print off your list and stick it to my fridge!

For the makeup excuse to work, I would actually have to wear makeup and I don't.

I stopped wearing makeup because I would forget and end up wiping it off all the time. LOL

You know, that water thing is critical. And it gives you something to do while you aren't eating as much. Sometimes if I have hit a plateau, if I up my water, I lose some....
