What are the geese up to this month?

That was the question as we drove by one of our favorite houses in Fishersville, Va. Every month the ornamental yard decorations were dressed in different costumes and arranged in different scenario's.

As you can see, the geese are sunbathing, catching a few rays by the pool and relaxing with their favorite beverage and water toys. Not a bad scene for a the "dog days" of August.

Usually on holidays like the July 4th, Memorial Day,or Labor Day, the geese would be dressed in red, white, and blue outfits decorated with the American flag on them, complete with little hats.

One of my favorite scenes was a volleyball game, complete with net and ball suspended in mid-air with two geese in matching swimwear and caps on each side with one goose suspended in mid-air (obviously going for a spike!)

As silly as this sounds , I always looked to see what the geese were up to whenever we passed the house. The geese always made me smile and take a second look at all the details the homeowner had incorporated into the scene.

I took a picture today as we passed. I wish I had taken some pictures of past scenes as they don't change the geese around very often any more. I admit it, I miss that.

I've often thought of writing the owner a letter letting them know that their yard is always a bright spot in my day and how creative they are to come up with the lastest "Goose Antics".
