Quote of the Day: (off my Mary Englebright Calendar for April) "What delights us in visible beauty is the invisible. "Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach
It's a beautiful spring Sunday and I'm sitting at my desk, listening to Peter, Paul, and Mary, looking at a perfect pastoral scene from my window. The birds are gathering around the feeder, blue jays, cardinals, mourning doves, starlings, sparrows, and even a brilliant oriole. I have a pot of daises on my desk in a yellow and white striped ceramic pot and a hot cup of spiced tea with just a splash of French vanilla. Now I ask you, can life get any better than this?
Today, at this moment, I have no cares, thoughts of unpaid bills, IRS taxes, what I'm going to fix for dinner, or how will we manage to do (you fill in the blank). The sky is blue and cloudless, and the buds are starting to develop on my lilac bushes just below my window. It's a day of promise.... promise of fragrance from the lilacs, a promise of warmer temperatures, the promise of better days, and the fellowship of friends.
Sunday afternoons are a treasured family tradition in this house. It's a time to nap, daydream, write letters, curl up with a good book, or watch an old movie together. It's a time to unwind and not take on one more single task. It's a time to swing on the porch swing and watch life drive by. Sometimes I make up stories about the people who pass by....who they are and where they are going. I'm easily amused!
