Today was a fun day! I didn't go to work at the mission but stayed home and played! Suzy and I watched "Cold Mountain" this morning with Nicole Kidman and Jude Law. It was a civil war story but had some very tender moments in the movie that made me think about the simple every day things in my life that I take for granted.
One line in the movie was, " Everything has a purpose, the bird eats seeds to live, the bird eliminates the seed through his system producing poop and seeds, the poop fertilizes the seed and the seed grows to house the bird or give him food." Maybe I should break out in a chorus of "The Circle of Life" at this point in the paragraph but it did wake me up to miracle of the mundane!
I really enjoyed going on the Red Trolly tour while visiting in Savannah last month. Why? Because I had forgotten how beautiful the city really is....I got caught up in the dailyness of living and forgot to really focus on the beauty around me....the architecture, the smells, the history, the sounds, and the comfort of the familiar. Ok, I know what you are thinking.....click your heels together 3 times and say out loud, "There's no place like home, There's no place like home! There's no place like home!"
If life is what you make it.....why am I making a mess of it? If I don't like my circumstances why not change them? Why spend time complaining about things I can't change and miss the things that bring me joy and pleasure? Simple concept, profound impact!
Simple pleasure.....pecan waffles for dinner, and my family around the table to enjoy it! Thanks God.....I needed that!
