How does your garden grow?

Wow, our garden is really producing right now. It's really nice to run out to the garden and pick fresh veggies for dinner. We are going to have a bumper crop of tomatoes when they all start turning red.

I may have to set up a road side stand. We worked out in the garden this morning till it got too hot. We staked up tomatoes and ran the tiller through the rows. We pulled a million weeds and then to our delight got a really good soaking rain this evening.

Our green bean crop was wonderful. We will plant more for later harvest. We haven't had a vegetable garden in many years since we are usually gone many weeks in the summer! It's been nice to have our friends come see us this year.

We have a new batch of company coming tonight. They are our favorite Kansas kin so it will be lots of food, fun and long gab sessions. The sad part is that the visit always ends way too quickly!

Wordless Wednesday...from our garden

Blackberries are one of the sweet things about summer. They taste great all by themselves. These berries are growing in our backyard!

The Saturday Photo Scaverger Hunt theme is community. My home town is really just a wide spot in the road. So I decided to show you "Daisy in her favorite community." Thanks to the New York Botanical Gardens!

Planting a vegetable garden

The weather is perfect today to plant our vegetable garden. We have been so busy during the summer that we have not tried to plant a vegetable garden in the three years that we have been here. We usually are gone several weeks in the summer with no one to tend the garden so have not even tried to plant vegetables.

In the past, we would ask our kids to water the garden for us only to find everything dead when we returned ( as they forgot to water till the night before we returned.) Mr. Wonderful made me some lovely raised beds in our former home so I do miss those.

We had a farmer neighbor come plow our designated patch and we have spent the last few days roto tilling the ground to remove the grass. It has been very hard work just to prepare the soil so we can plant. This afternoon we are getting the plants to put in and will stake the garden. Got to go get the plants.....more later!

Look what's blooming at the New York Botanical Gardens! We went to the gardens on Saturday. It was "The Spring Sensation Show". I will be posting some of the most gorgeous flowers you've ever seen.

This is our "Graduate" who is blooming with ideas. She graduated from Long Island University on Sunday with a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science.

She is a great example of "Bloom Where You Are Planted!"

I observed her today doing a "Baby Time" program at the local library. Talk about a hard crowd....her babies were popping all over the room while she is singing and doing finger play action songs with the moms. What an amazing young woman!

Her program today was "Mother Goose" since Mother's Day was yesterday. I was "her show and tell item" today....here's my momma! What fun! Today is our last day and we hit the road tomorrow.

The Daisy Patch is looking pretty good to me right now. The subway was an experience in and of itself! My amazing son-in-law expertly guided all over the city. This has been a great place to visit but nothing beats home! I know, I've neglected you terribly....but I will visit your sites when I return.
