Still waiting for good news

For those who have been praying for our sweet momma here is an update.  She is not a happy camper!  

    Change is very hard on anyone with dementia.   She is currently on medication for a urinary tract infection so I am sure she isn't feeling very good physically and wouldn't talk to my sister Bobbie on the phone last time she called her.

  

    The administrator took her phone to her room and put it on speaker so Bobbie could speak to mom even though she was too overwhelmed or depressed to talk. 

      Her 94-year-old roommate kept trying to encourage mom to talk.  Bobbie could hear her roomie say,"  That's your daughter, tell her you love her!" 

    She was retested yesterday for COVID.  It usually takes about 24 hours to get the results.  So now we wait.

still postive for covid

Results are back from  COVID 19  retest.  It is still positive, but mom is not running a fever or displaying any symptoms of respiratory distress. She has an IV because she was not eating well and they need to keep her hydrated.   

    Bobbie and brother in law Joe got to talk with her at her window.  They made mom laugh when they told her if she saw them dancing it would be because there was a large fire ant bed underneath her window.

    We are very pleased with the extra measures the nursing staff and administration are using in caring for our mom.  She is still very confused and distracted by the IV in her arm but not nearly as angry. 

     This morning she will get to visit with her favorite nursing assistant that she had formed a special bond with over the last year.  She knows our mom well and knows the best way to entice her to eat breakfast ( her favorite meal)  and encourage her to drink more fluids.
