Friday Fave Five

Susanne at Living to Tell the Story hosts Friday Fave Five in which we share our five favorite things from the past week. Thank you Susanne for hosting this inspirational sharing game!

1. I'm not in pain from an abscess tooth. I've had lots of dental dilemmas this week but I can rejoice for the excellent care I received.

2. Time to putter and work in our garden and yard last weekend . We rarely have the weekend off so it was a nice to trim the lilac bushes (since I couldn't see out of my office window) and get to some projects done that have been put off for lack of time.

3. Hearing from all of our kids. They are all busy grown ups now so I don't always get an opportunity to talk with them. (So if you are reading this call your mom!)

4. I love our little nest. It's been really nice to relax on the front porch swing and read a book or sit under my favorite shade tree in the back yard, enjoy the breeze, the birds, and my secret garden.

5. The "Mission Mall". We process, sort, and box used clothing at the mission. It's all hand sorted so very time consuming. One of the benefits is being able to find gently used clothing that we can personally use. My good friend Joyce knows my taste and sizes so enjoys surprising me with her finds. So if I'm ever at an award ceremony and someone asks "Who I'm wearing" I would have to say , "Joyce".

I'm looking forward to the weekend. Hope you are too.

Friday Fave Five

Friday Fave Five in which we share our five favorite things from the past week. Thank you Susanne for hosting this inspirational sharing game!

 1. This is a shout-out to my Mr. Wonderful. As you can see from the picture he's a swinger! Thank you for being a wonderful traveling companion, hand holder, bag carrier, best friend, soul mate, dad, Poppa, and playmate. I'd go anywhere with you. Thank you for the crazy schedules, car trips, special treats, and for just being there every day. Just wanted you to know how much you are loved. 2. This is a thank you to my Canadians, Becky, Jerry, and Emma. I loved being with you and miss you all so much now. Thanks for letting us meet your friends and play at the park, see the places and people you love and be a part of your life. We felt so pampered and loved. 3. Our home and especially our bed. Did you ever notice how nice the home is after you've been traveling? I'm a total bed snob and love the warmth and comfort of my own bed, pillows, cats curled up at our feet, and Mr. Wonderful in arm's reach. Dorothy was right there is no place like home. I'm enjoying my house all over again. 4. Being a Mom, and being able to spend the day with my daughter and granddaughter. This was the first mother's day I've been able to spend with Becky since she became a mom. I enjoyed being spoiled rotten and lots of hugs and kisses from Miss Emma. 5. We were able to find so many new gluten-free foods in Canada. It was like a treasure hunt! We ate really well and brought home gluten-free mixes, crackers, Saskatoon berry jam, jelly, and chocolates. Looks like my kids are going to have to start sending us care packages. It was wonderful to find some new foods and treats. I hope your week was just as wonderful as mine.

Friday Five Fave

Susanne at Living to Tell the Story hosts Friday Fave Five in which we share our five favorite things from the past week. Thank you Susanne for hosting this inspirational sharing game.
1. I'm waiting for this little cutie and his parents to come for a visit. Oscar and his mommy will be staying with us while daddy is at a conference. This Diva and Poppa are so excited for some Oz time. They can't get here soon enough for me. He is talking now and his mommy tells me he says, " Diva, Poppa, Let's Go, let's Go"
 2. We had a great visit last weekend with my 83-year-old fiercely independent mom. (See story below). She is amazing. She lives alone, does her own yard work, and always makes my favorites whenever we visit. We always enjoy our visits.
3. Mr. Wonderful is definitely feeling more energetic despite the very physical demands on him this last month. We really feel that the gluten-free diet is helping him gain his energy back. He has lost weight since he has not been eating bread and processed foods. He says he's ready to run after Oscar now. Oz definitely loves his Poppa. I love to watch them play together.
4. This girl loves anticipation almost as much as the actual event. I have been getting out prayer letters and making lunch dates with friends in Savannah. We go every year to visit our home supporting church and visit friends and small groups that pray and support us. We always get to stay with my friend and fellow blogger "Flip Flop Floozie". She's such a gracious hostess and puts up with our ridiculous schedules and makes sure I get to do my favorite things. (I always have a list!) When Floozie and I get together it's always a gabfest and lots of laughing.
5. We just made a final plan for going to Canada to see our Emma Bunny Girl. It's almost a year since we have seen her and this Diva thinks that's way too long. We will miss having them here this year but we are excited about interacting in her world. It will be fun to play at her favorite park and meet her friends. She is growing up much too quickly. Isn't she a cutie? Hope your week was fun and filled with friends and family. Till next week!

Susanne at Living to Tell the Story hosts Friday Fave Five in which we share our five favorite things from the past week. If you would like to play along just post your 5, link back to Susanne, and visit her to see who else is playing.

1. I turned 60 yesterday and was well celebrated by both friends and family. My children arranged a card shower for me and asked my friends to share a special memory or shared experience with me. I had forgotten some of the things mentioned, laughed till I cried at others, and was deeply blessed by just knowing that my life has made a difference in the lives of a few people. What a special gift!

2. Mr. Wonderful took the day off and I had him all to myself for the whole day. He's a good playmate (however, he makes a lousy girlfriend!) He found a great chocolate shop in Harrisonburg called "Chocolate Occasions" and I got to pick out a few of my favorites. Their white chocolate butter creams are surely the food of heaven! I'm not sure but I think Mr. Wonderful slipped the owners my picture and asked them not to sell to me cause I'm an addict!

3. I got a new driver's license with a new skinnier picture and got to drop my listed weight by 75 pounds. That was a thrill because the previous weight listed was" what I would admit to" and not necessarily the weight I was at the current time!

4. My volunteer group canceled out this Saturday. (I did muster up some disappointment on the phone though.) We have been blessed with lots of volunteers lately which is great but really makes us work hard to get prepared for them. It also meant working 6 days a week for the past month ....so it was a blessing to actually have Saturday off this week.

5. Phone calls from all my children, hearing Emma wish me "Appy Birfday Dita, appy birfday Poppa" (she thinks that if I'm having a birthday he should be too!) calling my mom at 3:15 pm (the time I was born) and thanking her for giving me life 60 years ago, having "Louie Armstrong" sing me Happy Birthday via my son Andy, and being surprised that the lady at the DMV wished me Happy Birthday!

Hope your week was blessed too. My new favorite quote: "Grace with wrinkles is adorable!"
