Lint from my brain:
Dear friends, This is Kathy, and I wanted to share with you all the things that are bombarding my brain this month. Three years ago I was diagnosed with a mass on my left kidney. Any growths on your kidneys are considered cancerous. We have been watching this condition and doing follow-ups and now it is apparent that the tumor is growing and needs to be dealt with. After much prayer and 6 months of waiting, we finally have a date for my kidney ablation. This is the most non-invasive procedure and will be performed at our local hospital in Johnson City under anesthesia on July 20th.
We will be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary on July 14. Charlie asked me how I wanted to celebrate this big event in our life. I told him I really want to have our newly fenced-in backyard landscaped into our personal oasis and personal sanctuary. I love nothing better than to have my devotions on the back porch in my pajamas with a cup of coffee. I am a horrible gardener but have never outgrown the desire to play in the dirt. There’s no place like home and I want it to be pretty and practical and personalized.
We look forward to the upcoming visits with our family from Canada this week (Becky, Emma, and Danny). We will have them for about 2 weeks and over the 4th of July. We will also get to see our son, Andy, with Rachel and our 3 granddaughters from Texas at the end of the month. We treasure any time we get to spend with family.
Charlie has become the social butterfly of our family ( I know! I can’t believe it either!) He teaches a weekly men’s Bible study at the Senior Center. They are currently working through the book of Revelation. We continue with our monthly commitment of preaching at the nursing home once a month. Charlie preaches and I go “Love on our old people”. I’m always relieved that they don’t stop us from leaving, thinking we are escapees! I continue with making my own cards and writing widows, shut-ins, the sick, and those who need encouragement. So far this year I’ve sent out 225 cards. I have been blessed by my youngest sister who has become the “stamp fairy” and sends me “pretty stamps “ to decorate the envelopes. Charlie and I work several hours a week at our storage unit processing and packing boxes of books and Bibles for shipment with Love Packages. Over the last 3 months, we have received and processed 3677 pounds of Bibles and Christian educational materials. Sweet Pea (our dog) and I work for tacos!
