Treasure Hunt

Do you make New Year resolutions? I used to but it seems they didn't last very long, if I made it till mid January I felt like it had been a success. I didn't make any this year. This year I decided to look for "hidden treasure" every day.

We read a daily devotional and this was the basis for the idea . "On

January 1,2008, Keith Severin and his 7 year old son, Adrien, agreed that they would spend at least 15 minutes every day that year searching together for treasure. They went out each day in every kind of weather to see what they could find. A year later their collection of coins, golf balls, recyclable bottles and cans, and various other items had yielded more than $1,000. In the process, they enjoyed many hours of companionship and fun."

So often my day comes and goes and I've forgotten to look for the hidden treasure it brings. I miss too many opportunities to appreciate people, and things that make my life easier, nicer and comfortable.

Solomon was one of the wisest men that every lived and he said, "If you seek (wisdom) as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures;then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God....Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path. "(Prov. 2:4-5,9).

So, I'm on a daily treasure hunt. It makes me feel like an explorer, a detective, and yes, some days even a pirate..Arrr!

Yesterday's treasure: Reading a book out loud together with Mr. Wonderful. We skipped watching the usual reruns of Law and Order and read several chapters of "Plum Spooky" a Janet Evanovich book based on bouty hunter Stephanie Plum. It was time well spent together and the funny part was listening to Mr. Wonderful change his voice for the different characters!

I challenge you to look for the hidden treasure around you. I wonder what I'll find today? Happy Hunting. Let me know if you find something good!

I just read that same devotion the other day... Our Daily Bread? Or Portals of Prayer? I don't remember.

I thought it was a great idea too. The thing about MY treasures, is that I NOTICE them, I thank God... but I don't "store" them. I wonder if he wants me to store them...? It would be nice if I could remember at the end of the day allllllllll the things I've thanked Him for! I'll have to give some work to that! Mental notes don't work... oh dear... if I have to stop and write it, I'll be too busy to collect the treasures!

I haven't read a PLUM mystery in ages! But girlfriend... last time I checked she was huntin' BOUNTY - not BOOTY! (well... sometimes that too!)
