Thursday Thirteen.."X" words that describe me~

"X" words that describe me!

1. XXXX0000.......also knows as hugs and kisses on the end of a letter!

2. "X's" on a test paper......never a good sign when it comes to grading!

3. "x" marks the spot on a treasure map.....I'm so there!

4. Xavier.....cool boy name that I never got to use!

5. "X" chromosomes.....indicate that I'm female.

6. x-rays.....I've had a few of them in my lifetime.

7. Xerox....brand name of a copier that Mr. Wonderful can repair.

8. Xmas....from the Greek letter representing Christ (Christmas)

9. XP....a monogram used to represent Christ or Christianity composed of Chi and Rho, the first two letters of the Greek word for Christ.

10. xylophone....a musical instrument played with small mallets ( favorite toy as a child!)

11. Xeno....reference to that which is strange, foreign or different (hmm...sounds like me!)

12. x-rated....what this blog is not!

13. x-ceptional .....Ok, so I cheated just a bit, but I am nothing if not exceptional!

Xmas. I didn't know the X was a greek letter that stood for Christ. I still have a hard time with people using Xmas, though. Very interesting list!

You found a lot of things for X ! There is also another one, in France if you are born under X that means that your mother will not let you know who she is and you are free for adoption after the birth. It had been impossible for these children to find out their birth mothers. Now the law has changed since a few years and it doesn't exist anymore.

Now we just have to figure out how XO became kisses and hugs. I have a cousin named Xavier. And why isn't Xerox spelled Zerox?

Hope the bulbs don't break when they hit bottom. Happy Xmas!! XO

That's a toughie!

It was ages before I realised xoxoxo was hugs and kisses! I'm SO out of touch...

and I learn something new every day! (from dictionary.com) Xmas has been used for hundreds of years in religious writing, where the X represents a Greek chi, the first letter of Χριστoς, "Christ." In this use it is parallel to other forms like Xtian, "Christian." But people unaware of the Greek origin of this X often mistakenly interpret Xmas as an informal shortening pronounced (ěks'məs). Many therefore frown upon the term Xmas because it seems to them a commercial convenience that omits Christ from Christmas.

Merry Xmas, my darling Daisy!!

I have been thinking on doing the A-Z thing too, and I can actually use Xavier - it is my oldest son's middle name. Great list, all X-traordinary and true I am sure. Thanks for popping by the Cafe today.
