The last of our family left this morning. We were up at 3:30 a.m. and on the road by 4 to reach the Richmond airport for their flight. It's a 12 hour trip for eldest daughter and baby Emma. They are flying into some really cold winter weather which will be a major change from the balmy sweater weather we have had in Virginia.
The house is unusually quiet....there is no run on the bathroom, no toys on the floor, and no squeals, giggles and smiles to greet me. I do have a picture ornament with Emma's voice recorded that I've listened to a lot today while looking at the tons of pictures we took while we were all together.
Emma loves Little People so of course not wanting her to forget her beloved Poppa and Diva I was thrilled when I found these for her. They actually do kind of look like us! I got really tickled when she picked up the Diva and kissed her! (What a clever girl!)
Uncle Andy bought Miss Emma her beautiful red dress so Saturday we took her to the Mall for her visit with Santa. She was in a really good mood when we got there but unfortunately Santa had pressing business at the North Pole so it was quite a while till we were able to get a picture with the two. Poppa was very good at amusing Emma by one of the giant Christmas trees.
Emma's Christmas shirt says, "Best Present Ever" and has a big bow on it. I certainly can say that she is the best present ever for our family. It was a thrilling experience to have my birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas all rolled into one one big eventful week. I may never get over it...I hope not! I can look at the pictures and be transported right back to the fun and laughter.
I was gently reminded that Thanksgiving is every day. Thank you family for the sacrifice of time and travel. All of you may me feel very special and very loved.

Well Daisy your house is back to quiet again and you are missing everyone!! I know how it is!! Sometimes hubby and I would just sit and listen to the quiet!! I am so glad that you had all of this time with your WHOLE family minus one of course!! That is quite a miracle anymore to have everyone home at once!! I love it but it does not happen much here. Love the pictures of course ...always do..Sandy
I know you are going through withdrawals right now, hang in there! You are so lucky you had everyone together and they all get along!! ;)
Miss you!
I know it must be terrible in the quiet...but am so glad you have some photos and the voice ornament. That's a great gift from little Emma! Her dress is adorable.

I know how you feel... when the grands leave our house or when we leave their house , it is a big empty spot in my heart.I enjoy having them wake us up in the morning and hearing little feet running on the floor to greet us.. I love Emma's dress. She is so special to you and us...Hugs to you.... Baba
*snif*... You're gonna make me cry!
Andy did a GREAT job pickin' out Emma's dress! It's adorable! I can't wait to see the pics of her with the old man himself! Did she LIKE him?
My guys just texted me a bit ago that they were in North Carolina eating dinner and awaiting their final flight! Those poor kids -- they had 2 layovers coming home ... what they will do to save money! They left Texas verrrrrrrrry early this morning too... What a DAY - for BOTH our girls!!! (and their babies!)
Well, pass the tissues Melli.....I'm all blubbery too!!!
I know you must miss them all terribly but your memories will last a lifetime.
LOVE the pictures of the little ones..so cute.
Love you my friend.
