Quote of the Day: "People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing." - Dale Carnegi
The following is an email I received that I want to remember.
Stress Management
A lecturer when explaining stress management
to an audience,
raised a glass of water and asked
"How heavy is this glass of water?"
Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.
The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter.
It depends on how long you try to hold it.
If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.
If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.
If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.
In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it,
the heavier it becomes."
He continued,
"And that's the way it is with stress management.
If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later,
as the burden becomes increasingly heavy,
we won't be able to carry on. "
"As with the glass of water,
you have to put it down for a while and rest
before holding it again.
When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden."
"So, before you return home tonight,
put the burden of work down.
Don't carry it home.
You can pick it up tomorrow.
Whatever burdens you're carrying now,
let them down for a moment if you can."
So, my friend, Put down anything
that may be a burden to you right now.
Don't pick it up again until after you've rested a while.
Lord, teach me to put my burden down and rest.

Great Post...but easier to write and to say than to do most of the time!! I wish that we as humans could just put them all down..lay them at Jesus's feet and walk away!! WHEW!! He would have a lot of them laying there just from little ole' me!! Hope you have a wonderful day!! It is dark, rainy and tornadoes in the area..YUCK!!
Miss you!!
When I was working , I could always leave my stress behind me and relax at home... Baba
This is good!
I was so stressed yesterday I was a mess!! The Doctor changed my insulin to a insulin pen and it seemed hard.... but I went to the Dr this morning and he changed me back to the same insulin only with the same needles I am used, too!!
I sure do thank everyone who prayed for this Dr's visit!! and I had lost 3 pounds too and my blood pressure was good..... Always glad for that!! Love and Hugs Grams
Better yet... give HIM your burden! He'll carry it for you!
I loved this post and the words are so true, we do need to learn to put our burden down and rest when we can. xox
Yeah, put those burdens down.
Me? Stressed? Never!! What a great anology. Thank you for sharing this with us. I "borrowed" it (giving you credit, though) for my Faith-Lift Fridays. This was perfect, and something I really needed to hear.
