Compassion in Action

1. This summer we have been having sermons on the Church in Action. We have been challenged to put compassion in action so this past Sunday was a weekend without church. Instead of our regular church services we went out to minister to the community. About 20 service projects were implemented through out the community and each of us were asked to participate.

2. This girl made cookies for the various fire and rescue squads as a thank you for volunteering their time and skills to make our community safer. Several other ladies fixed lunch and brought it to the station.

3. Mr. Wonderful was involved with exterior painting at the home of a recent widow. The work crew made short work of the project and she was thrilled to have the help. He also worked on a crew at the community youth center to take out an old carpet and strip off the residual glue left on the floor.

4. Other projects were giving out snow cones at the local parks. Putting together baby bottles for the Crisis Pregnancy Center Donation campaign, local ministry to the prisons and various work crews at the Salvation Army and other community centers.

5. Please pray for Mr. Wonderful's big sister Anne. In a freak accident in her kitchen she fell against the refrigerator door and smashed her right shoulder and broke the socket. The doctors are telling her that she will need shoulder replacement surgery next week, since the bones in her shoulder are crushed beyond repair. Also, it's a lengthy recovery (9 months to a year or more). It was her right shoulder, so she won't be able to write. Suddenly simple things like getting dressed and going to the bathroom are no longer simple.
6. Birthday blessings to Miss Suzy....her birthday was Friday and to Boy Wonder (Andy) who is having a birthday on Monday. Suzy and hubby Tim took Boy Wonder to a Mets game for an early birthday gift.

7. Most of all I'm thankful for my darling Mr. Wonderful who still brings me coffee every morning in bed, makes wonderful chocolate chip pancakes, and doesn't know how to say" No" because of his very big servant's heart. He always amazes me with his generosity, caring, and selflessness.
It's been a busy weekend at the Daisy Patch and yes, I know that it's not Sunday today....but shouldn't we take a bit of Sunday with us all through the week? Surly it's Sunday somewhere in the world? Hope your were blessed and continue to be a blessing to others.

When I read about Mr. Wonderful's sister, Anne and her horrible accident I started getting tears in my eyes and my throat got tight!
Bless her heart!! I pray they are able to repair her shoulder and when it is over it won't be as long as they say for her to recover.
I know about crushed bones and it is not good!
I will add her my pray list. It is the things you can't do for your self that makes this sooooo hard I think. the pain too.
Love to you all, Grams

Have a good week. Baba
