A weekly meme for giving thanks and/or for noting important events in our lives. If you want to join in click here.

1. It has been a whole week since I was hit by a car while walking in the parking lot to my car. I now have something to compare other life experiences against. ( bad hair day, frustrations at work, money problem now appear to be merely a nuisance in contrast.) Thank you God for some perspective.

2. This is Memorial Day weekend. It is a time to honor those who served our country . Mr. Wonderful put our flag out and I was deeply moved this morning by views of Arlington National Cemetery and also by names and ages of the 35 service men killed in active duty released by the pentagon this week. So many of these young men are my son's age and younger. I grieve for their families and loved ones as their pain never goes away.

3. I've decided to use pain as a reminder this week. My activities have greatly been curtailed and I find it takes so much more effort to do very simple basic activities. So when my knee begins to ache or my chest and arms groan in protest of dragging my body around I pray for those in constant pain.

4. Thank the Lord for helpers who came over yesterday to help us clean out the spare bedroom, set up the crib for Emma to sleep, climb the stairs to take items to the attic, and even cleaned my bathroom. It is very humbling to "receive" help but I know that I am indeed blessed by your gifts of service and love.
5. We are were so blessed to be able to pick up Emma Bug and her Mommy and Daddy at the Richmond Airport last night at 11 p.m. I was in a wheelchair so Emma thought I made a great personal stroller for her. I was afraid she would burst into tears and start screaming but she gave me a big toothless grin and let me hold her. Needless to say I stole some "Cheek Sugar" from her and she thinks her "poppy" is pretty funny too.

6. Emma slept on the way home so was ready to play by the time she reached the Nest. Poor sleepless mom was awake most of the night with Lady Em. I think it will take a while to get her days and nights turned around as well as the two hour time difference. I marvel at my oldest now a mom herself. I've forgotten just how much work one little baby can cr
eate.
7. Finally I want to give thanks for being alive and for finally getting to hold , kiss, and cuddle our the first of ( dare I say) many (hint, hint) grandchildren. Who
would ever think that the love of your life would be short, chubby, toothless and bald. God does have a wonderful sense of humor. So excuse me while I go spoil one baby rotten and love every minute of it.
Hope you have a blessed weekend....mine already is!

Excuse me while I go get a tissue, as your post has me tearing up!
So sorry to hear about your accident, but very glad you are okay!
How right you are about Memorial Day- so many just think of it as three-day weekend. We need to be reminded of the families who have loved ones fighting for us and for those who have lost a loved one.
So glad you are finally getting to spend some time with Emma! I know you have been looking forward to seeing her! Those cheeks are just so kissable-- I'm sure you're stealing lots of "cheek sugar."
Enjoy your week!
I'm SO glad Miss Emma had a good first meeting with her Diva! I was afraid, too, that she would be bashful at first, since Becky has said that she's a bit of a mama's girl. I am so glad she allowed you to love on her!! I know you are having a wonderful weekend with that beautiful little girl!! Kiss her for me!!
Love you!
Miss Daisy, I KNOW you are loving that little Miss Emma! She's the best medicine you could ever get, right???
I just wish I was close enough to help you out a little. I understand how difficult it is to do the most simple task. Just know that I may not be there in the flesh but I am there in spirit and pray for your speedy recovery.....in the meantime, just enjoy your time with your precious family and give Emma a hug for me.
She's finally here! I admire you Daisy. Love that family of yours and enjoy every minute of the visit.

I so admire your attitude...to be in so much pain and yet think of others who live with pain constantly. You truly are a wonderful person, inside and out!! Ohhh how adorable Miss Emma is:-) I can just imagine how much you'll enjoy spending time spoiling her! hehe I'm sooo looking forward to my first grandchild...I'm trying to give hints but so far it doesn't seem to be working! lol xox
I'm loving this post. You're right, we all need to put things in perspective. Thank you for that gentle reminder. I'll remember it the next time I go to whine about something.
I'm so glad that your sweet Emma is there with you! I know she'll bring some special healing and relief for your pain. I pray you have a wonderful week...take lots of pics so we can see that baby with her Diva!!
Hugs and Blessings!!
:-) Susan
What a week. It certainly ended much better than it started.
I have been reading your post for awhile now.Came by it through a great friend. Sorry to hear about your knee injury. I had knee surgery last Friday. All went well with the surgery, walking great....one bad thing. The meds they gave me to keep me from getting sick from the anestecia (sp) gave me an anxiety attack. It has lasted for four days now. Starting to feel better.....be sure and ask about the side effects of ALL meds they give. If I had it to do over, let me throw up !!!!!!!!!!! Congrats on the grandbaby........we have 7 ! Grandchildren...........PRICELESS! God bless and I will be praying for you
