I was reading an article on romance by Lisa Kogan in an old "O "magaizine. Her's my version of life and romance with Mr. Wonderful.
I am married to a very practical man. Romance to Mr. Wonderful means that that there is wood in furnace, the house is warm, the cars have fuel in them and work properly. It also means that there is food on the table and the trash has been taken to the dump. It means that the grass is mowed and things are repaired around the house. Oh, yes, I forgot the big one....He protects me from all hungry wild animal (usually our cats), spiders, and removes any remains from mouse traps. Oh yes, and my ultimate favorite....he gets up early, feeds the animals, puts the dog out, turns up the heat and brings me coffee in bed!
Romance to me is totally different. I am a sensible woman. I keep a first aide kit in my kitchen, kick my shoes off when I come in the house , and always carry "Mad Money" in my purse. I'd just as soon remove my own spleen with a grapefruit spoon than buy anything that isn't perma press or that requires ironing. I believe in practical shoes, low -maintenance hair, and whichever frozen pizza is on sale. I'm not entirely sure what a bodice is, but I can tell you I don't want mine ripped. My love language is having my garden plowed, a bouquet of daisies, and control of the remote.
Don't get me wrong....I like chick flicks, and 3 hanky movies. I adore chocolate covered strawberries with sparkling cider. I believe that fireplaces should be lit, compliments should be paid, and Mozart makes me melt into a big pile of goo. I love Shalimar perfume, or light scented hand lotions and throw in a foot massage and I am so there. I want Lassie to come home, a nice meal at a sit down restaurant , world peace and everything to end happily ever after.
I 'm not proud of this but in the interest of full disclosure....I love Musicals , ABBA, and the concept of the movie " 50 First Dates" ( making the women of your dreams fall in love with you every single day ) . Hello My Name is Daisy and I'm a romantic.
When the man you love realizes that half the screws are missing from the Ikea bookcase he's attemping to assble for you, does he:
(a) Complain bittlerly about herring and Volvos-vowing to forsake all things Swedish for the rest of his natural days?
(b) Leave the shelving in a heap on the living room floor and question your need to read in the first place?
(c) Complete construction using a combination of rubber bands and Krazy Glue while suggesting you fill the thing with pamphlets rather than actual books?
Mr. Wonderful is definitely a "C" personality. Tomorrow is Mr. Wonderful's sugery so I'm feeling somewhat nostaglic . So say a prayer for him, and I'll let your know late tomorrow how everything went.

LOL! Dennis is definitely a "C" type too! I have SO prayed Mr. Wonderful up -- but I will do it again tomorrow - and even asked God this morning to REMIND me to pray for him tomorrow - in case I should forget! I DO hope his surgery goes smoothly and he will be feeling like a million bucks by ... Friday! :)
And by the way... I have awarded you a Thinking Blogger Award over on MY blog today!
I'm thinking this post should have a "High Fructose" warning! It was SO SWEET!! I'm certainly praying for your Mr. Wonderful's surgery tomorrow. Know that you are also in my prayers. I love "happy marriage" stories...they are SO important to pass down to the next generation. Thanks for sharing.
Hugs!
:-) Susan
The two of you sound like the perfect match...Coffee in bed, Wow!! Can't beat that.We will all be saying a prayer for your man in the morning.
Get some sleep and God Bless.. Baba
It is Tuesday Morning now 8:45 and I have just prayed for our Mr. Wonderful that everything will go according to God's plan for him and that he will stay down for as long as you can keep him down to get well. I know this is going to be the hard part!! I know you will let us know. I loved your post and also your award!! Take care and know that as you say..."you are prayed up"

Prince Charming is most definitely a B type of guy. He is a procrastinator at heart so the shelf would sit there for weeks in the box before he relized that there were parts missing. Then it would sit in a pile on the floor! LOL I am a romantic too.
I love it! Sometimes the practical things make you feel very loved. You know he wants you to have the best!
Mr. Wonderful (and you) are prayed up today. Can't wait to hear how everything went.
