Thursday Thirteen...What I Hate about Christmas

Thirteen Things about Lazy Daisy
13 Things I Hate about Christmas.

  1. I hate Christmas cards that have the name printed in them and no message or just signed with no message.( why bother?)
  2. I hate long, Chritmas wish lists.....whose birthday is it anyway?
  3. I hate that Christmas decorations go up earlier and earlier every year.....maybe next year they will go up after the 4th of July!
  4. I hate pop boy bands singing Christmas classics just to sell a few more albums, or silly Christmas songs like "Grandma got run over by a Reindeer "or the "barking dogs."
  5. I hate exchanging gifts out of obligation to people I don't even really like or know.
  6. I hate the commericalization of Christmas.
  7. I hate the debate about the politically correctness of wishing some one Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or Seasons Greetings.
  8. I hate that there is no Salvation Army Bell Ringers in front of some department stores anymore.
  9. I hate that there are few "magical Chrsitmas store window displays" any more.
  10. I hate that flying has become such a hardship with so many new regulations and longer waiting lines at the airports.
  11. I hate that there are political factions working at removing "Nativity Scenes from public buildings, and parks.
  12. I hate that so many people are alone at Christmas.
  13. I hate that our military families will be without love ones this Christmas.

I hate; no it's more of a sadness, that so many people miss out on the real Gift that was given to us that first Chrismas. The Gift for all and yet so many pass Him by or turn Him away.

Xmas is not a favorite of mine... I agree with your list, specially with nr 6: hate the commercialization of Christmas .
I am not happy over Xmas, why do I have to be merry ???

Christmas is my favorite holiday but I think it has become too commercialized too. I think your list is great but I have to admit that I like the 2 songs you mentioned...especially the barking dogs one. *s*

I agree. I REFUSE to say anything BUT Merry Christmas. That is what this holiday is called. I don't care what you believe or don't believe...the name of the holiday is CHRISTMAS!!!
BTW, if I had your address I would write a message on the Christmas card I would send you, I like that kind of thing too!
Love ya girl.

Great post!! So many of these things are so frustrating. We need to get back to the heart of the season and STOP letting the outside non-Christian world "take" our celebration. I started doing the family letter a few years ago...I used to hate those...but I find that I really do love catching up on everyone.

Have a GREAT week...and may the Christ of Christmas bless you richly as you prepare!!

Hugs.

Terry at Island Writer has a similiar list. I think we should start a movement to stop the over commericalization of Christmas! We have an neighborhood open house xmas eve party with a Yankee Swap using only recycled gifts!

Mine are RED and READY to READ!

I'm with you... the true meaning seems to have been lost in commercialization and 'wants'.

I also hate that we have to be "politically correct" when wishing someone a merry christmas, seasons greetings. whatever. Who cares???

And I have a friend who will be without her husband this Christmas..he is in Iraq right now. I worry and ache for the both of them.

My 13 are up.

I simply LOVE your list and I agree with everyone of those silly things. I am getting so that Christmas is just a CHORE for me. The older I get it is becoming worse and worse for me because of the money it requires!! We just do not have it and it is getting worse and worse every year!! I so agree with this list.
Lucy is still gone!! I am afraid forever!! We are so sad. I have cried and cried about losing her...

I agree with all of this ... and yet... it still remains my favorite holiday! (followed by 4th of July!) LOL! I do think it will be MORE fun again though if I EVER get a grandbaby!!!

Sorry I'm late....

I agree with your list 100%! Oh and I was at Macy's today, and they have the Salvation Army ringers outside, I was surprised actually! I was disappointed in the decorations at the big malls here, just not magical, like you said.

The blogosphere is broken without you in it!

We finally had to go to printed names because they are photo cards (painting) and won't hold ink. But I do include a letter. I love Christmas letters and save them.

My TT is up. Click on the scroll because it's probably wandered off the page.
