Halloween is just a day away and this past weekend many TV stations have been playing horror movies. I'm not a horror movie kind of girl. As a matter of fact, you could call me a "hide your face in the cushion and yell, "tell me when it's over" kind of girl.
Mr. Wonderful and my children take endless delight in how skittish I am. They love to see me startled and the least little thing will make me jump.
The very first horror movie I remember was "The House of Wax" with Vincent Price. It was a black and white movie and had a 3 D effect. I was 4 years old at the time and remember that I spent half the movie with my head buried in my Dad's chest with my eyes closed and the other half on the theater floor with my 3 D glasses off. I remember being really scared throughout the movie and even having bad dreams afterward.
Plot Outline: A horribly disfigured sculptor opens up the House of Wax in New York, using the wax-covered bodies of his victims as his displays.
I grew up to be a nurse and work in the Emergency Room. I've seen enough real-life horrors to never want to watch that kind of movie on the big screen for entertainment purposes. Even now as an adult I'll leave the room, close my eyes or cower under a cushion.
Do you like to watch horror movies?

Horror movies scares me so I really don't like to watch them. It leaves trails of imagination after watching one.
Mine's up too and a Happy Halloween.
I don't particularly like scary movies unless they are very elaborated and subtile... Loved The Others. And my very fave is The Rocky Horror Picture Show, does it count??? :)
Happy Halloween to you!
The last horror movie I saw was Psycho in 1960! That did it. Couldn't even get in a shower for years. I might have seen a few badly made ones when I was a teen. I just don't know why with all the real horrors, anyone wants to flood the mind with those images.
Hope you'll be stopping by my MM about our real estate adventure.
Great MM! I love the old movies! I have really been enjoying the movies this past week from the 1940's! I don't like the newer ones as much as they are way too graphic.
My MM is up. Have a wonderful Monday!
You and me both girlfriend. I am a member of the 'hide your face' team too!
My idea of a horror flick is "Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein"!
To answer your question from your comment on my blog....I APPEAR to be unflappable, in private I may fall apart! My faith helps me to hold it together.
I do not like horror movies either. My first one was Creature From The Black Lagoon. I refuse to watch all the Friday 13's and Halloween movies.
I'm up too.
I always loved horror movies but lately some of these newer ones get right down stupid...now those you can have. Give me a good one and I will watch those. Guess this is one way we differ!! sandy
see you soon!!
Ok, this is where we differ! I LOVE horror movies!!!! This month is the best, because I have watched non-stop horror flicks! It's been great! :)
Now I do draw a line on my horror flick watching...there are some I just can't watch or else I'll end up sleeping with the lights on. ;)
I'm really not a horror flick movie watcher....there are just too many other GOOD movies out there that are entertainment. To me, the plots are mundane and put together wrong. Nope, not a fan per sé!!
But I do love Halloween.
I don't know just how anyone can be in the medical field and see the gore and stuff in real live person...ya know? More power to you, and I envy you and think your life's work is super.
Come over tomorrow if you wish, I'm having a Halloween Photo Bash.
OH!!!!!!!! And Woody is sooooooooo darned cute.
I hate hate HATE horror films! There is not much in this life that I "hate" - but horror films I really do! I see NO POINT in some people putting their sick and disgusting ideas on to film and other people paying good money to WATCH them! It drives me NUTS!!!
Sooooo... Flip Flop tells me she's heading north and that we might could meet - and that I should check out YOUR page to find out all about it. But I don't see anything over hear about her coming... *sigh*... I'm soooooo confused...
Or over HERE either. ROFL!
I don't watch horror movies, I can think of many much more enjoyable thimgs to do.
I hate horror films! I get scared so easily...it is rediculous! It made me laugh when you said that your family makes fun of you for being so skiddish...mine does the same thing!
Great subject so near to Halloween.
No, no horror movies for me thank you. I'm such a bore there, I hate to be scared and don't see the good of seeing this kind of movies at all. It's a waste of time...
Ionly want to seee, humane, interesting or funny movies. I want to laugh.
OK, sometimes I laugh at horor movies or science fiction too, because it's so silly... *lol*
