13 Reasons why Daisy adores Summer!1. Catching Fireflies! Also known as lighting Bugs. They come out in early summer evenings and brighten up the whole day. It's like watching fireworks all summer. I remember catching them as a kid and putting them in a jar.
2. Later Sunsets. I can get home. Make dinner and still have time to sit in the backyard and watch the sunset.
3. Fresh fruits and vegetables! I love going to the grocery store and picking out fresh fruit and vegetables. I love the variety and all the beautiful colors.
4. Lounging in a hammock or under a shady tree! I love having my devotions outside on the picnic table by my secret garden and the grape arbor. I love the flowers and cool breezes.
5. Ice cream or icy pops on a hot day. Eating something really cold on a really hot day.
6. The smell of newly mowed grass. Also seeing a nicely manicured lawn from my office window. (the smell is the best though!)
7. Beautiful gardens blazing with color. I love all the beautiful gardens, roses, hydrangea, crepe myrtle, magnolias, honey suckle, and of course daisies!
8. Wearing sandals or flip-flops! I love to hear the clip clop of flip-flops. I like having my toes and feet aired out. I like having my toe nails painted.
9. Cool looking sunglasses and beach hats. Maybe its a flash back from my days of reading Seventeen Magazine and the ads that said, " Who is that behind the Foster Grants?" but I love cool looking sunglasses and beach hats.
10. Going to the beach. Catching a few rays on the beach, finding pretty seashells or just wading. It's always better at the beach.
11. Vacation. Traveling to new places and seeing new sights and sampling the food.
12. Swimming Pools. Always cool and inviting on a hot day.
13. 4th of July Celebrations . Complete with fireworks, flags, parades and watermelon!

I love all of these things! What is it about summer that just gives you permission to wear those funky glasses and hats and be totally okay?
And we don't have fire flies where I live, but that is something I really enjoy -- watching them buzz around in the evening.

I often complain about the heat and the humidity, but your list made me remember all the pleasures that come with it. I too love most of those things, and I love the relaxed "feel" of summer days too. Thanks for the smile!

Summer is the best! I really miss fireflies since I've moved to Portland. And thunderstorms.
I love all those things, although it has been a while since I have tried to catch any fireflies. I LOVE getting home from work when it is still light out!
i love the summer, too!! Vacations, sunsets, flip-flops, swimming pools! All of my favorites, too! :) I just wish it wouldn't go by sooo fast! *boo-hoo!*

Fall is my favorite season but there are some good things in summer too. I love the lazy days and the smell of fresh mown grass. Brings back so many memories.

You know, when I read wonderful lists like yours, I wonder why summer is my least favorite season. Maybe if I didn't live somewhere with horrible humidity, I'd be able to appreciate it as much as you do! ;) Thanks for helping me love it vicariously through you though.

I'm more of a fall/winter rainy foggy weather person, but there are good things about summer. I remember as a kid catching lightening bugs. the mosquitoes are so bad here though that no one can stand being outside at night though:(
I think the only thing I don't like about summer is the hotness. It need not be so hot. There's only so much clothes I can take off. At least in the winter i can keep layering those clothes. :P
But i love the freshly mown grass too, it just smells like summer doesn't it? love it. great list!

I grew up in Connecticut and loved to catch fireflies as a kid. My hubby, who grew up in Arizona, has never even seen one. Sad, huh?
