Me

iginally uploaded by Momma B.

This is me starting a brand new day. It has endless possibilities. What will I do with it? "My business is not to remake myself, But make the absolute best of what God made." - Robert Browning

That's the quote that is staring at me from my calendar this morning.

I'm home, having opted for a long shower, leisurely breakfast, and catching up with laundry, cleaning, putting things away from our trip, and redirecting my life .

I usually wait till September and fall weather to start thinking about routine, order, ebb and flow, ying and yang, healthy eating habits, more exercise, drinking more water, and generally making mid-course corrections.

Why now? Possibly because I've just come home from being gone for two weeks and see the need for change. Possibly, because school is starting again (earlier every year). Possibly because I have a friend to encourage me at the mission now. Many reasons, but there is a sense of urgency.......Do it now! Don't wait, don't keep putting it off.

So today I will eat better, redirect my energies and make wise choices.

Note to self: Look for book Illuminations of Hildegard of Bingen by Matthew Fox

Hildegard(1098-1179) was a woman of considerable influnce, A Benedictine abbess, a mystic, a physician, a theologian, a musician, a botanist, and a painter. At a time when few women could write and most were denied a formal education, she corresponded with emperors, popes, archbishops, nobility and nuns. She traveled, preached widely, established mosnasteries, and was politically astute and outspoken. At key junctures in her life, she defied authority of her church superiors and prevailed.

Hildegard's authority and creativity grew as she grew older. She had an exceptionally long life for her time (81 years). To achieve what she did and be the person she was, Hildegard had to develop her intellect and talents. This was possible only because she lived in a religious community of women, which allowed her to pursue her interests. She was able to take herself seriously, to draw spiritual support from meditation and prayer, and over and over again, to react to external events.....Jean Shinoda Bolen ( Archetypes in Women Over 50)

Way to Go Hildegard! She definitely was a juicy crone!
