New Experiences....Fresh Outlooks
As an advid list maker I was compelled to start a list of what I wanted to do and see while in Canada. Here's my list:
1. Hug my daughter! (those 6 months between hugs are rough on momma's)
2. Greet and get to know my new son-in-law.
3. Attend Becky and Jerry's wedding reception for friends and family.
4. Visit Becky's favorite "haunts" in Saskatoon.
5. Eat Poutine!
6. See a Mountie!
7. Bring back Saskatoon Berry Syrup!
8. Meet Becky and Jerry's friends.
9. Go to Becky's house church.
10. Meet Jerry's family.
Was I able to complete my list? Absolutely! What a fabulous time we had. Jerry is a Keeper! What a wonderful addition to our family. It felt really good to see them both at the airport and that first hug was a welcomed experience. What a delightful surprise to find out that Jerry is a great hugger and see my sweet "beaming" Becky.
New experiences can be frightening but mine were fantastic! Not only did I complete my list but we were able to do even more than I ever imagined. Here are some of my "surprises".
1. Falling instantly and completely for Jerry.
2. Being able to see a pure look of joy and delight on the face of my child.
3. Going to a Thai restruant and actually liking the food!
4. Going to the "Berry Barn", eating perogies, and Saskatoon berry pie!
5. Seeing some of the most gorgeous flowers I've ever seen in my life!
6. Liking Becky's friends and feeling good about her being so far away.
7. Enjoying their house church and being impressed with the quality of worship and Bible study.
8. Going to Regina.
9. Seeing the museums and taking lots of pictures.
10. Envying my daughter's grocery store!
11. Finding out for myself that they are eating healthy.
12. Being able to relax and actually read a book!
13. Seeing my hubby's face light up at antique cars and tractors!
14. Being able to "visualize" my Becky as she goes through her day.
15. Finally feeling Becky has found her "safe landing place" in Jerry.
New experiences, new outlooks........fond memories, warm hearts....(sigh)
