Good Morning, In this time of Covid Pandemic I find great comfort in daily routines. Mine consists of taking morning medication and waiting an hour before I get my first cup of coffee. One of my medications has to be taken with water at least 30 minutes before coffee.
Yes, I agree, cruel and unusual punishment! However, there is a bright spot to this dilemma. Uncle Joe told me to take it in whenever I get up in the night to go to the bathroom. Problem solved, I go back to sleep and when I wake up to start the day I can do it with Coffee
I am typically not a morning person but a Night Owl. So, I need that cup of Joe with silence just to make me nice to live with. Mr. Wonderful is respectful of my needs and always brings me my coffee when I get up in the morning with a smile and a kiss on the cheek. He leaves me to my silence and solitude while I slowly drink in the sweet goodness of fortitude and courage to start the new day.
After coffee, we listen to Lectio365, a devotional app to start our day, and also "Our Daily Bread" devotional reading followed by praying together. I am always cold so I put a sweater on over my pajamas, and Oreo cuddles up while I look at Facebook or color on Pixel Art.
After a reasonable amount of time or the urging of my morning bathroom call, I reluctantly get dressed and start my day. Both Poppa and I have Office Time. He goes down to the man cave (directly below my office) where he works with his radio blaring out the news of the day. Poppa is virtually deaf so everything is loud, including his phone conversations. Usually, I put on my noise-canceling headphones with Christian music or my Pandora favorite stations and charge through my to-do list. The only thing about not hearing Poppa is that I am very skittish and if he taps me on the shoulder I jump like a scared rabbit. He now blinks the light switch to alert me that he is in the room and wants to talk. This helps considerably as I am usually on my computer with my back away from the door and don't see him enter.
Since our retirement, I spend a lot of time writing on my blogs and your blogs (one for each of my grands). I try to remember stories about each of our children, memory stories for my Mom, and special times I have had with each of our grandchildren. I have been remiss in keeping them current so I am trying to fill in missing stories. Family history is important and oral history is an art form. I want our grandchildren to know that they were loved and prayed for every single day of their lives.
Another thing that I am being directed by the Holy Spirit to do is make and send encouraging cards to friends who need encouragement. I average about 20 cards a week. I am so glad Poppa bought us a new printer for Christmas. It makes my life much easier. Poppa also buys me envelopes (100 per box) and pretty stamps. He also prints up my own return address stickers.
I keep a journal that details what I have learned in my daily devotions and a daily gratitude list as I need to be reminded of God's goodness when times are tough.
We have a pizza date on Friday (we buy a frozen Gluten-Free Pizza and put on our favorite toppings) Sunday night is waffle night. We make Gluten-Free Pecan Waffles and put some bacon strips in the microwave. I love soup so we normally have a pot of chili or other favorites throughout the week. My comfort food is buttered Grits with cheese or a loaded baked potato.
We have just started back to attending our local church since our last vaccine shots. We love seeing our friends but it is still hard on huggers. We also enjoy watching sermons from our favorite churches and favorite ministers.
I am going to an afternoon Bible Study on Tuesdays. It meets at 4:30 so we all can be home before dark. All of us are older and ladies so it is a special time for me. Right now we are studying the life of David.
We go grocery shopping once a week, and Poppa usually gets Chinese food at the supermarket deli and stops and buys me a power bowl at Taco Bell on the way home.
We like to watch mysteries on TV. I am rewatching Survivor.....someday you need to be reminded of how good life can be when you aren't stranded on an island having to make your own shelter and finding your own food.
I drink ice water with Propel ( electrolytes and flavored mix) or hot tea throughout the day. Poppa drinks way too much coffee and I will occasionally drink more if I am cold or headachey.
Oreo demands that we walk him and take him outside throughout the day. It is always a good break. He loves to cuddle up in our lap and I am more than willing to let him.
So this is pretty much the breakdown of my life during Covid. Poppa has Ham Radio meetings, Boy Scouts, and Pastors Meetings. We help with homeschooling on Fridays.
Hope this didn't put you to sleep. Now that we have been vaccinated we are getting more active. We were thrilled to get to see Mom at the nursing home and spend time with Bobbie and Joe.
