Just back from the vets...it's official. Oreo's heart murmur has advanced into early congestive heart failure which is common in older rat terriers. The old boy wasn't sleeping well cause he couldn't breath. He is on fluid pills, antibiotics and heart medication and already has settled down. It is really nice not to hear him wheezing continually . The vet says he isn't in end of life stage yet and could with medication live up to two years or longer. We are his retirement plan and he is our baby ( even if he is older than we are). Blessed to have a vet that loves old dogs!
