We were fired today

A funny thing happened this afternoon.  Not funny, as in hilariously humorous, but funny as in peculiar.  We were fired from the board of Global Church Growth for not being in unity with the ministry.  It was not a nice email and definitely hurt our feelings, but it wasn't actually a big surprise.  Several months ago, Michael mentioned working with a Korean ministry in Cuba.  It raised some red flags with us and Charlie did some research on this ministry.  They have a very poor accountability rating.  Charlie had some cross words with Michael and things were said in anger so we could see that our time with Gobal was coming to an end.

So today it is official.  They have given us till April to contact our donors and change our database to another ministry of becoming officially retired.  We average about 3 thousand dollars a month so if we retire it will be a major hit to our income.  We will have to live on our savings and social security or find another ministry to be a part of.  We raise our own support, and I am sure that it will follow us wherever we land.  However, in this pandemic society that we live in....who will hire a 71-year-old missionary?  

If we retire, we will definitely have to cut back our giving to other ministries as well as the little luxuries we enjoy.  We don't live a lavish lifestyle but have not had to budget our expenditures either.  We can give up Netflix, and some other paid channels as we watch too much TV anyway.  We can cut back our food bills by cooking in bulk I could start making up weekly menus. I have gotten lazy in my old age and careless so maybe this is God's wake-up call.  

We saw that CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) is hiring people to work on their prayer line part-time 20 hours a week from 6am to noon.  I am intrigued by the idea as I love to talk and praying is a privilege.  I would be good at that and so would Charlie.  We don't want to force anything so we will pray and seek guidance on what to do.

I am surprised that I am not upset about this and will continue to be friends with Jacque and Michael but no longer pay for the website or monthly travel expenses.
