I love it when an ordinary day becomes special by" a God Wink." A God Wink can be anything that captures your attention and makes you stop and realize it's a gift from God. A God Wink can be something as simple as putting on a fall jacket and finding money in the pocket. It's even better when you are out of money but not out of month! A God Wink can be an incredible sunset or watching the landscape come alive with vivid color from the fall foliage. It can be an extra crisp crunchy apple when you're really hungry or finding a replacement for something that you thought you had lost forever.
We live in a small house and to make everything fit into our small house some items have to be stacked. One day Mr. Wonderful opened up our cupboard door and my very favorite coffee mug came crashing down to the tile floor shattering it. The mug said, "God danced on the day you were born." I was distressed and "TBI" (teeny bit irritated) but threw away the pieces telling myself it was just a cup and I have lots more that could now become my favorite. Mr. Wonderful was so upset that he had broken it and felt so bad about it that I had to quickly let it go and assure him it was alright and definitely an accident. I went on with my life and forgot about it till several months later when Mr. Wonderful came home beaming from a garage sale where he found the same mug in pristine condition for a quarter. (Definitely a God Wink!)
A dear friend of mine gave me a small plate and candle holder with a ceramic matching shade. The shade got broken while Mr. Wonderful was helping me clear off the table and again, he felt really bad about it. I sighed, rolled my eyes and put the plate safely away in my China hutch for safekeeping, and stored the candle holder away (just because I didn't want to deal with it at the time!) I didn't think much about it till I found the exact ceramic shade at Good Will a few days later. What are the odds that I would find only the part that was broken? (Definitely a God Wink!)
Yesterday our son thought he had lost his wallet. He had looked everywhere
and contacted his bank and credit card company. He had done everything right but was still distressed about having to replace everything. He knows in our household Mr. Wonderful is the finder.... which alas, makes me the loser. He called his dad and told him about the situation and of course how he really wished that dad was there to locate the missing wallet. Mr. Wonderful turned the phone over to me and after assuring him that he is not irresponsible we prayed about it. I reminded God that He knows where all the lost things are, including the lost coin, the lost sheep, and even the Prodigal son. I prayed that God would "open his eyes" and help him see the item and that we would rejoice together. Would you believe shortly after our phone call he found his wallet next to the TV where he is certain he looked several times before? (Definitely a God Wink!)
I've seen God Winks all the time at the mission. Something will be donated one day and the next day someone will come that is looking for the exact item. Coincident? I prefer to think of it as God's provision or what I call a God Wink.
Hope you catch God Winking at you!

I love those winks! Andy and I are like peas of a pod! I am forever losing (misplacing?) things... and having to pray to find them! God is GOOD! He DOES know where everything is! He tried sO hard to help me find my lost credit card... but I just didn't want to do the laundry!!! When I finally got to it, He said "See? I told ya so!" That wasn't QUITE a wink...
