Look what Poppa brought home today? A wooden rocking horse just Oscar's size. Momma named the horse Nellie, and you can hear Oz laugh with delight whenever he climbs on. Of course, we had to teach him to say, "Whoa Nellie!" He thinks it's hilarious so of course, we all laugh whenever he says it. He adores his Poppa and looks all around the house for him when he leaves for work. Suzy and I don't exist whenever Poppa is home.
The Lilacs are blooming now, and Oscar likes to feel them and smell them. I can't blame him; I love to smell them too. There is a big bush of them alongside the building at the mission. So, we are stopping to smell the flowers now that spring is here.
How do you entertain a wild boy at the grocery store when it's almost bedtime? Let him smell the flowers. Oscar is doing the sniff test on some yellow flowers. He crinkles up his nose and is so cute when he smells. (Not that I'm at all biased in any way.)
Off for more adventures in the land of Oz today.
Hope your day is full of laughter and amazement that only children can bring.

That SURELY is an adorable grandbaby! I think you were mistaken on that pony's name though! I'm pretty sure it's MELLI! Whoooooooa MELLI! Yea... I'm sure that's it! :)
That rocking horse looks exactly like the one I bought at one of the auctions for Lily! Her granddaddy has to fix it for her first, though, and it will stay here so hopefully she will eventually come here to visit. Oscar is so adorable, what a cutie pie.
Love the faces he makes to smell the flowers. Shawn was saying that Lily is learning how to smell flowers right now too and whenever she sees some now, she wrinkles up her nose and makes this loud sniffing sound. lol xoxo
This one is similar to one that my uncles made for me as the first niece.. some 57 years ago now. As the oldest of 14 grandkids, that rocking horse really made the rounds! The last time we were in Illinois, I tried to figure out where it finally ended up, but no one knew. I am sure that grandbaby is really going to "ride the range" with this Nellie! What fun!
