March marched right on past us

We were thrilled to spend Easter with my mom last weekend. I hadn't seen her since her birthday in January (bad daughter). February was unusually cold and snowy, and March was frantic with volunteers and activities at the mission every weekend.

We took last Friday off and headed to Richmond to see Mr. Wonderful's brothers. Brother Jay had a knee replacement about a month ago, so we wanted to check on his progress.

We were thrilled to be joined for lunch by Mr. Wonderful's brother Jim and wife Marilyn. Both brothers have April birthdays, so we got to celebrate with them. I made Betty Crocker Gluten Free Brownies (my newest love!) and gluten-free chili with rice. Brother Jim is the brother who got us interested in going gluten-free after his improvement in energy after years of chronic fatigue.

My mom loves roses and has a beautiful rose bed in front of the house. She normally has roses all summer and going into the fall. I grew up with roses on our kitchen table and all through the house. Mr. Wonderful found these beauties at the grocery store. After fussing at us for being extravagant we later found out she wanted to plant a rose bush of this variety.

We did some research on the internet we think this is a circus rose from Ecuador. Now to track down where we can get one for Mother's Day.

The gluten-free diet has really helped Mr. Wonderful. We have been working 6 days a week, long hours, and entertaining many groups after hours so we are thrilled that he is feeling better. He did go to the doctor about the gastric reflux. The doctor did not seem concerned since he could swallow without difficulty or pain and told him to continue to take over-the-counter medication.
He has discovered that apple cider vinegar (unfiltered) with honey helps to neutralize stomach acid, so I think we are making progress in that department.

Our schedule is still packed.... we are expecting Suzy, Tim, and Oscar tomorrow. Suzy and Oz will spend the week with us while Tim is off to a conference. I'm so excited to see my boy who is talking now and have some serious playtime with him. You know Chick-fil-A will be in my future!

The following week we will be in Savannah staying with my good friend Flip Flop Floozie. We always have fun together and I'm anxious to see her since her bad fall this past December.

We get back into town for a massive workday at the mission with our local church then leave for Canada in May with a stopover in Chicago to see little sis.

Whew! I'm getting excited just thinking about it.

Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated!
