A Swarm of Activity......

This morning we had volunteers at the mission. We had been praying about getting in more volunteers......So I guess you need to be careful about what you pray for.

Our mission is very small. We have 6 full time people to do all the things we do, so we rely heavily on volunteers. I had talked to a youth group about volunteering and they originally told me they could field a group of about 20 to 30 volunteers. Thirty teens is a big group to try to keep everyone busy and involved for 3 hours.

I had pulled in favors from some of the staff to give up part of their Saturday to help supervise. The group ended up being 50 kids with great adult leadership. We got so many projects completed this morning. One group sorted clothing and boxed it up. Another group landscaped the front yard ( we had the plants, and mulch but they provided the man power!) One group took legs off of stackable desks (200 of them) so we can pack them easier in our next container to Haiti. Another group moved boxes of books, clothing and emptied all the trash we generated from sorting clothing. Still others helped box computer components. The grounds look wonderful and well manicured.

This afternoon the Senior High Class of Weyer's Cave High School 1956 is having their picture taken on the steps of the of our mission (their former high school). What a love gift for them to have the grounds looking so nice.

It was a really great morning and this group truly gave us a great gift.

There's nothing like having a large group of volunteers accomplish a huge amount of good work. It gives you a glimpse of what it could be like if you had a real staff to work with! Keep up the good work. We had two groups yesterday that did a great job, too.
